Meditation

Meditation is a way to calm the mind, connect with our inner self, and awaken higher awareness. In yoga, meditation is the heart of the practice. Here are three powerful types of meditation you can experience in Aadinaada.

  1. Guided Meditation

In Guided Meditation, a teacher will lead you through the meditation using words, visualizations, mantra or breathing instructions. It helps the mind stay focused and makes it easier for beginners to meditate. The guide may ask you to imagine peaceful places, focus on your breath, or repeat affirmations. It is a helpful way to reduce stress and become more present.

Example: A meditation where you’re guided to visualize a peaceful mountain, letting go of stress with each breath.

  1. Sound Meditation

Sound Meditation uses sacred sounds, mantras, or instruments like singing bowls, bells, or gongs to bring the mind into a deep meditative state. The vibration of sound helps to relax the nervous system and balance the body’s energy. When you listen to certain sounds, your brainwaves can synchronize with those frequencies. This process, called brainwave entrainment, can induce states of relaxation, focus, or meditation, depending on the frequency. Mantras like “Om” or “So Hum” are also used in this practice. In yoga and tantra, sound is considered a powerful tool for healing and spiritual growth.

Example: Meditating with the sound of a Tibetan singing bowl or traditional Nepali Instruments chanting “Om” to feel inner peace.

  1. Yog Nidra (Yogic Sleep)

Yog Nidra means “Yogic Sleep.” It is a guided meditation where the body enters a deep state of rest, but the mind stays awake and aware. It is done lying down in Shavasana (corpse pose), and the teacher leads you through steps like body scanning, breath awareness, and visualization. Yog Nidra is deeply relaxing and can help release stress, improve sleep, and heal emotional tension.

Example: Lying still while being guided to relax each body part and imagine peaceful scenes, leading to a deep meditative rest.

These meditation techniques are part of the deeper side of yoga, not just for peace, but for awakening inner energy and self-realization, as taught by Guru Gorakhnath and many yogic masters of Nepal.
