Frequently Asked Questions
SOUND HEALING
1. What is sound healing?
Sound healing means alerting our senses through the use of traditional instruments like  bells, drum, tingshaw, singing bowls, gongs and mantras to help bring your mind, body, and spirit into balance. The vibrations opens our body, mind and soul and we can grasp the subtle energy of the deities and universe.
2. What can I expect in a sound healing session?
You’ll simply lie down or sit comfortably while immersed in waves of sound. Every experience is unique — some feel deeply peaceful, others emotional, and some even energizing.
3. What makes Aadinaada different from other healing spaces?
At Aadinaada, we honor the sacred roots of every practice we offer. Our aim is to create true healing frequencies through sound — using not just singing bowls and gongs, but also traditional Nepali naada (sound) instruments that you rarely find elsewhere. We blend ancient wisdom with deep personal experience to create unique, heartfelt experiences. Every session is designed to feel natural, powerful, and truly one-of-a-kind.
4. Is sound healing safe for everyone?
Yes, sound healing is gentle and safe for everyone. If you have any medical conditions, are pregnant, or are under the influence of alcohol, please let us know beforehand so we can make sure the session is comfortable and safe for you. Please note, sound healing is not a replacement for medical treatment.
5. What instruments are used in sound healing sessions?
We work with Himalayan singing bowls, gongs, Nagara, Sahanai, Kaal, Bijuli, Karnall Naada, bells, drums (made from mud, brass, copper), tingshaw and voice — each chosen to create Naada (vibration).
6. Can sound healing help with anxiety, insomnia, or physical pain?
Yes, many people experience relief from anxiety, sleep difficulties, chronic pain, and emotional stress after sound healing. The calming frequencies help the body move into a self-healing state. While it’s not a replacement for medical care, it’s a powerful complementary practice.
7. How are your sessions different from "new age" sound baths?
At Aadinaada, we deeply honor the traditional roots of sound healing and mantra practice. Our offerings are guided by ancient philosophies, not just relaxation. We aim to create authentic, sacred spaces that respect the spirit of the original teachings.
8. Will I have visions or emotional releases during sound healing?
Sometimes, yes! Sound can unlock deep emotional layers. Some people feel strong emotions, see colors, or even experience visions. Others simply fall into a deep, restorative rest. Every experience is perfect and unique to you.
9. Is there a specific way to prepare before coming?
It’s helpful to hydrate, eat lightly, and arrive with an open mind. You may wish to set a personal intention, but it’s not required.
10. What should I wear to a session?
Wear something comfortable that allows you to relax fully — loose, cozy clothing is perfect.
YOGA & PRANAYAMA
1. What is Hatha Yoga?
Ha represents Sun and Tha represents Moon. The union between masculine and
feminine energy within our body is hatha yoga. This is also embodied on our
National flag of Nepal. Hatha yoga is the art of meditation through body (shariragata
dhyana)
2. What should I bring to a yoga class?
You don’t need to bring anything! We provide yoga mats, blocks, straps, and everything you’ll need. However, if you prefer using your own personal items, feel free to bring them. Just come with an open heart and a relaxed mind.
3. I’m new to yoga — can I join your classes?
Absolutely! Our yoga is welcoming to all levels, from complete beginners to advanced practitioners. We focus on mindful movement, breath, and inner connection over complicated asanas.
4. What should I wear to a yoga class?
Wear something comfortable that allows you to move freely. Stretchy clothes, like leggings or a loose top, are ideal. Just make sure you’re able to move and breathe easily!
5. I’m not flexible — can I still do yoga?
Absolutely! We focus on slow movements, breathwork, and listening to your body’s needs at every level — whether you’re a beginner, intermediate, or advanced. The main goal is to connect with your soul, balance your sun and moon energies, and cultivate inner harmony, rather than practicing only intense asanas. We believe that yoga is for everybody regardless of how flexible you’re or not.
6. How can yoga help with stress and anxiety?
Yoga helps reduce stress by calming the nervous system, improving focus, and promoting mindfulness. Breathing exercises and mindful movement can help ease anxiety, giving you tools to feel more centered and balanced. But it should not be seen as a replacement for medical care.
8. How is Pranayama connected to yoga?
Pranayama is an integral part of yoga. While yoga poses (asanas) focus on the body, pranayama focuses on mind. The balance of mind and body is all about hatha yoga. It is practiced after completing asanas to enhance the overall yoga experience.
9. Why is breath so important in yoga?
The breathing process helps to regulate the prana then only the mind can be brought under control. In many spiritual traditions, including Sufism, Buddhism and yoga, it was discovered that by concentrating on the breath, one can still the mind, develop one-pointedness and gain entry into the deeper realms of the mind and consciousness. Without pranayama, yoga is incomplete.
10. Do I need to practice pranayama every time I do yoga?
Yes, practicing pranayama regularly can enhance your yoga practice. It helps you stay more connected to your breath, improve concentration, and release tension, making each yoga session more effective and transformative. It is practiced in order to understand and control the pranic process in the body.
